EASTON, Pa. - Lafayette field hockey improved to a No. 15 ranking with 51 points in the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division I Coaches Poll on Tuesday afternoon. The Leopards are positioned in 17th place in the official NCAA Rating Percentage Index (RPI) for week nine.
Lafayette defeated the Ivy League's Brown, 2-1, on Sunday afternoon using a fourth-quarter goal by
Naomi George. The squad remained undefeated at home (9-0) and continued to a five-game win streak overall. During the contest, both programs played for the Alzheimer's Association, raising over $4,690 for those affected by Alzheimer's disease and the families who support them.
Previously, the Leopards gained the 17th slot for week seven and eight of the 2026 NFHCA Coaches Poll. In week six, the Maroon and White earned a No. 20 ranking while positioned in 10th place for RPI. The Leopards entered the Coaches Poll during week five at No. 19 with a No. 7 RPI score.
In 2024, Lafayette made its way to national rankings during the historic Patriot League title run. The No. 20 Leopards of that season ranked 21st for RPI, while the 2012 conference championship squad attained a No. 11 mark for their strength of schedule.
The Maroon and White succeeded as the first field hockey program to clinch a berth in the 2026 Patriot League Championship on Oct. 10. Boston U., Holy Cross and American will also participate in the competition, taking place from Nov. 5-7 at the site of the top seed.
Lafayette (14-2, 5-0 PL) returns to action on Friday, hosting Boston U. at 6 p.m. for the American Heart game. The highly anticipated matchup at Rappolt Field is set to decide the Patriot League regular season champion and lock up the conference's No. 1 seed. With everything on the line, we need Lafayette fans to turn out in full force, pack the stands and bring the noise to support the Leopards. Admission is completely free, so bring your friends, wear your maroon and white and show out to help defend our home turf for this high-stakes showdown!
