What are you involved in outside of track and field?
Outside of track and field, I’m a supplemental instructor for introductory biology courses, a member of Lafayette Happiness Project, and I do lab work with Professor Butler focused on birds. I’m also a member of Tri Beta Biological Honor Society.
What is your favorite event in track and field? Why?
My favorite event in track and field is the 3K steeplechase. I tried it for my first time my freshman year of college and had so much fun in the event, even though it was a longer distance on the track than I was used to coming from high school. Jumping over the barriers and the water jump made the race fun.
What has been your favorite moment while competing for Lafayette?
My favorite moment competing for Lafayette was while running my first indoor 3k. I had never run an open 3k on the track before and was aiming for a specific time. I was the only person from Lafayette running in the race and so many of my teammates were lined up near the starting line. Pretty much everyone was taking my splits and trying to encourage me and help me get my goal time. They were all yelling and cheering for me and it wasn’t a big meet, but they didn’t care they were just supporting me. When I finished the race and got my goal time, I was pretty much engulfed in hugs right away and I was so happy. I’m so grateful the amazing teammates I have to support me in every race and with everything I do.
