Joe Bozik participated in football, wrestling
and baseball while attending Lafayette. He found
his greatest success on the gridiron where he started
three seasons at quarterback, including 1955 when
Lafayette captured the "Little Brass Cannon," the
program's first Middle Three title since 1944.

Bozik also led the team in kickoff and punt return yardage
in his sophomore and junior campaigns. As a
sophomore under Head Coach Steve Hokuf, he led
the `Pards to a 6-2 record, including a 21-13 win over
Dartmouth, Lafayette's first victory over an Ivy
League opponent in 22 seasons. His 21-yard
touchdown run lifted the `Pards over Rutgers, 16-7,
Lafayette's first win over the Scarlet Knights in 11
years. Bozik, an option quarterback, defensive back
and kick returner, scored two touchdowns and
converted a point after in the Leopards' 35-6
upset of Lehigh, played on the snowy mud of Fisher
Field. Bozik concluded his collegiate football career
by leading Lafayette against heavily-favored Lehigh,
a close game played before over 17,000 fans, the
largest football crowd in Bethlehem at the time.
