Tony Giglio burst into the forefront of the
Lafayette scene in the first game of his junior year
when he came off the bench to rush for 183 yards
to help the Leopards defeat Kings Point.

He didn't stop running until he had set a career rushing
record with 2,519 yards. At 5'11" and 175 pounds,
Giglio combined a rare ability to run through the
trenches and around the end. He became Lafayette's
first 1,000 yard rusher in 91 years of football when he
ran for 1,204 yards. His best effort gained him 238
yards on 27 carries versus Colgate, one of six times that
he gained over 100 yards as a junior. He concluded
the season by being named honorable mention All-
America by the Associated Press and being recognized
Athlete of the Year in his native Lackawanna County.
As a senior, Giglio again surpassed 1,000 yards rushing
with 1,078, despite being hampered most of the season
by a groin injury. The Associated Press rewarded his
accomplishments this time by selecting him as a third
team Little All-America.
