Olav Kollevol served for 25 years as Lafayette's
Director of Athletics, before retiring from his post in
December of 1989. A 1945 graduate of Colgate University,
Kollevol came to Easton in 1965 following a 10-year
association with his alma mater as a coach and athletic
administrator.
An outstanding athlete at Colgate, he was
a defenseman and captain of the 1942 Red Raider ice
hockey team which was undefeated in 14 games. He also
played catcher on the baseball team and center on the
football squad under the legendary Andy Kerr. After serving
as an officer in the U.S. Navy during World War II, Kollevol
signed a baseball contract with the Boston Braves'
organization, and spent three years in the Braves' farm
system, advancing to the Triple A level before an arm
injury signaled the end of this career in 1948.
While on College Hill, Kollevol served as Chairman on the
NCAA's eligibility committee and District II vice-president
of the NCAA Council. He is also past president of the ECAC
and a member of the National Association of Collegiate
Directors of Athletics.
