Jim Radcliff is regarded by many as the
greatest basketball player in Lafayette history,
and his achievements and records go a long
way in support of that claim. A 6'5" forward,
Radcliff came to Lafayette in the fall of 1953,
and when he left four years later, he owned a
number of season and career records.
A two-time All-American selection, Jim became the first
player in modern Lafayette history to score 1,000
career points in three seasons. His 1,059 career
points currently ranks him 27th on the all time
scoring chart. Radcliff still holds the career mark
for rebounds (1,148), and also the season standard,
with 450 rebounds during the 1954-55 campaign.
The highlight of his varsity career came during the
1956-57 season when the high scoring senior led
Lafayette to a 22-5 mark in its first NCAA
Tournament appearance.
