Don Sayenga won two straight Middle Atlantic
Conference heavyweight wrestling championships
while at Lafayette. As one of Lafayette's
outstanding wrestlers, he once put together a string
of 23 straight victories including 15 pins.
Sayenga's interest in wrestling extends to the history and
developments of the sport. He was written on those
subjects for the Encyclopedia Britannica and has
chronicled wrestling as "The Oldest Sport" for
"Amateur Wrestling News." He was named to the
Citizens Savings Athletic Foundation Wrestling Hall
of Fame. The Bethlehem resident was cited as
America's outstanding historian of amateur wrestling.
