A four-sport athlete as a freshman at
Lafayette, Horace "Tod" Saylor went on to start
at center and linebacker for the football team.
Coach Hook Mylin said Saylor was one of the
best players he ever coached.
As a sophomore,
"Tod" was the starting center on the basketball
team and the starting catcher for the baseball
team. After enlisting it the U.S. Army in 1943,
Saylor returned to College Hill to captain the
football team in 1947. He went on to earn a tryout
with the Cleveland Browns.
