Todd Tripucka collected enough basketball
honors and awards in his senior season to be
considered for the Lafayette Athletic Hall of
Fame based on that season alone. With points as
a yardstick, it was the best single season in the
school's history.
Firing away from the backcourt, the 6'2"
Tripucka averaged 26.1 points a game to rank as
the nation's (NCAA Division I) seventh leading
scorer. The 42 points he scored in a win over St.
Joseph's that season is the third most points ever
scored by a Lafayette player. At the season's end,
he was named to the first team All-East Coast
Conference for the second time and was chosen
the league's MVP. No other Lafayette player had
achieved MVP status in the league's 14-year
history. With Tripucka as a starter the Leopards
had a three-year record of 58-22, including one
trip to the post-season NIT.
