Kolasa enters her first season as the head coach of the Lafayette fencing program after previously serving as an assistant for the Leopards in 2016.
Kolasa, a Rutgers graduate, takes over the head coaching reins after one season as an assistant for the Leopards in 2016. She helped guide the Leopards through multiple NCAA and MACFA meets during the year, as well as NCAA regionals.
While at Rutgers, Kolasa was a four-year member of the Club Fencing Team, leading the squad as the Women’s Saber Captain. The standout helped organize and lead drills in saber, epee and foil, while creating training strategies for her teammates. She helped Rutgers earn a fourth-place finish at Club Nationals for the women’s saber team, and a third-place finish at the Christmas Invitational.
Kolasa has competed on the national level for 15 years, studying under now-Penn head fencing coach Andy Ma at the Fencing Academy of South Jersey. Under his tutelage, Kolasa earned a ‘B’ saber classification and was able to take first place at the Garden State games.
Outside of fencing, Kolasa works as a Quality Control Clerk at Mathematica Policy research. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Policy, Institutions and Behavior from Rutgers. Kolasa returned to Rutgers to earn her Masters in Environmental Policy from the Bloustein School of Public Policy in 2016.
