Why did you choose Lafayette?
I chose Lafayette because as a student-athlete, I have always embraced well-roundedness and balance: the physical demand of track and field and the mental demand of receiving a rigorous education. Lafayette offers both: from the true liberal arts education to the sense of pride from successes in track and field. During my official overnight visit and interview, I was lucky to have experienced a taste of life as a Leopard from an academic and athletic perspective. Not only did I get to witness the intense and disciplined nature of the busy schedules of the D-I track athletes, but I also experienced Lafayette in the classroom. When I walked into my first class, I immediately felt like one with the students and the professor. The close-knit environment made me feel comfortable participating in groups, answering questions, and sharing my ideas. Here, I realized that accessible professors are important in creating the well-connected space that Lafayette provides. I am excited to take advantage of Lafayette’s strong encouragement to branch out and explore different interests that I have developed in high school. I look forward to pursuing my career passion while also continuing my journey as a student-athlete on the track team.

What is your favorite event in track? Why?
Shot put is my favorite event because it makes me feel strong and quick on my feet. I love that there are two widely used approaches or techniques to putting the ball: gliding and spinning. Everyone brings their own unique style to shotput but ultimately our goal is always to get the ball as far as possible.
