What has been your favorite moment while competing for Lafayette?
My favorite moment while competing for Lafayette was the prelims of the 100m dash at Outdoor Patriot Leagues in 2023. I remember being super nervous because I had to finish top 2 in my heat to automatically qualify for finals. One thing that immediately helped was being in the same heat as my teammates Gabby and Maeve. Most people think that this would cause more competition and stress, but it made me excited that we could all compete together and support each other. On top of that, a lot of our teammates made the trek across the field to watch the race, knowing that I had my eye on the 100m school record of 12.05. We ran, and I finished 3rd, which wasn’t what I wanted (although I ended up qualifying for the final by time), but when the score board lit up with a time of 12.02 next to my name, the whole team started yelling and cheering! My teammates Abbey and Emily ran up and hugged me, and I wouldn’t even let them celebrate because I was too busy stressing about if the time was wind legal. This moment was amazing because the team supported me without me asking for it. They knew the time I was shooting for and they were freaking out that I achieved my goal without me saying a word, and was arguably more excited for me than I was. This is what makes the team so special.
What are you involved in outside of track and field?
Outside of track and field I am involved in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) club, the Health Professions Program, and the Science Horizons Program.
