Christopher Spencer

Christopher Spencer is in his first season on College Hill as the head fencing coach, joining the program in February. 

His appointment follows an 18-year tenure as the head coach at Haverford. During his time at the helm, Spencer produced six team conference championships, six weapon squad conference championships and seven NCAA division one regional finalists, and was thrice voted conference coach of the year.

Prior to Haverford, Spencer spent four years at Wellesley as an assistant coach. He is also recognized as the founder and coach emeritus for the Riverside Fencing Club in Amherst, Mass., where he guided fencers from beginners to Junior Olympic qualifiers and NCAA recruits.

Spencer also served on the NCAA Division I Championships Committee from 2014-18. He is a 1994 graduate of Brandeis, earning his bachelor’s degree in international relations. In 2019, he secured his Prévôt D’Armes from the U.S. Fencing Coaches Association in all three weapons.
