Jarrod McCarthy joined the Lafayette Sports Medicine staff in August of 2023 as an Assistant Athletic Trainer. His primary sports coverage includes volleyball and women’s lacrosse and his secondary sports are football, track and field and swimming and diving.

McCarthy is responsible for the oversight of medical needs, evaluations, diagnoses, treatments and rehabilitations of student-athletes for his designated sports.

McCarthy’s other duties include managing and coordinating the scheduling of clinical rotations for athletic training students, insurance documentation, and supporting fellow athletic trainers in managing daily operations.

Prior to arriving on College Hill, McCarthy received clinical experience at Quinnipiac University, Michigan and Yale. From Sept. 2022 to May 2023, McCarthy worked with the women’s basketball program at Quinnipiac and was responsible for treatments and rehabilitation as well as assisting with administrative duties such as injury logs and insurance claims.

In August of 2022, McCarthy helped with Michigan’s football program, setting up and breaking down the field and treatments. He also became proficient in rehabilitation equipment such as laser therapy. 

From January 2022 to May 2022, McCarthy worked with Yale’s track and field teams and men’s soccer. While there, he utilized underwater treadmills and Biodex and he was responsible for implementing and utilizing therapeutic modalities, treatments, and designing treatment and rehabilitation programs.

In 2023, McCarthy graduated from Quinnipiac with a bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training/Sports Medicine.
