Women's Swimming Defeats Drexel, 148-81

EASTON, Pa. (www.lafayette.edu) - Freshmen Sara Berberich (Silver Spring, Md./Paint Branch) and Liz Helwig (Basking Ridge, N.J./Madison) both won a pair of events to lead Lafayette's women's swimming and diving team to a 148-81 win over Drexel on Saturday.

Berberich claimed the 200 free (2:00.97) and 500 free (5:22.41), while Helwig touched the wall first in the 200 IM (2:14.37) and 100 free (54.11). Helwig joined Allison Paul (Southampton, N.J./Lenape), Jen Totten (Mantua, N.J./West Deptford) and Erin Rosensteel (Hershey, Pa./Hershey) on the 400 medley relay that finished first in 4:17.29.

Also claiming first-place finishes were Rosensteel in the 50 free (26.32), Lindsay McCarthy (Peabody, Mass./Beverly) in the 200 butterfly (2:17.59), Michelle Oswald (Timonium, Md./Carver Center) in the 200 backstroke (2:18.23) and Alana Anzalone (Shavertown, Pa./Wyoming Seminary) in diving.

The Leopards accounted for three of the top four place-finishers in eight different events.

Lafayette returns to action next Friday, visiting Lehigh for a dual meet at 7 p.m.
