EASTON, Pa. – Lafayette athletics wrapped up its nominee announcements for the PARDees on Thursday morning, announcing seven male student-athletes up for the Class of 1913 Trophy. The nominees include football's
Andrew Chuma and
Trent Crossan, men's soccer's
Joe DeStefano, fencing's
Andrew Mange, swimming and diving's
Brian Ross, baseball's
Richard Villa and men's lacrosse's
Conor Walters.
The PARDees, an annual awards show that recognizes Lafayette's senior student-athletes for their accomplishments and contributions to their programs, will take place tonight, with a red carpet walk beginning at 4 p.m.
Four graduating seniors will receive special recognition as the Charles L. Albert '08 Awards and the Class of 1913 Trophies will be presented one male and one female each. The winners are determined by a vote from Lafayette's head coaches and athletic administration.
The Albert Award is presented annually to the senior male and female student-athletes who are judged to be the most outstanding athlete. The 1913 Trophy is presented to those who have attained the greatest distinction both as an athlete and a scholar.

Andrew Chuma, Football: Economics major…a four-year letterwinner with 41 games played and 10 career starts…played in 11 games in 2018 with five starts, making 32 tackles with 5.5 tackles for loss and three sacks…played in 11 games with five starts as a junior, finishing with 22 tackles…named the 2018 Maroon Club Scholar-Athlete of the Year…selected as a finalist for the National Football Foundation and College Football Hall of Fame's William V. Campbell Trophy, presented annually to the nation's top football scholar-athlete…garnered CoSIDA Academic All-America honors as a senior…secured Academic All-Patriot League status in 2017 and 2018…named to the 20
th and 21
st Annual FCS ADA Academic All-Star Teams.
Trent Crossan, Football: Economics major…a four-year letterwinner with 38 games played and 18 starts…served as a team captain in 2018, starting the final 10 games at safety with 50 tackles, two tackles for loss and an interception…played in 11 games with eight starts as a junior, finishing with 50 tackles and an interception…named the team's Most Improved Player following the 2017 season…earned CoSIDA Academic All-America honors as a senior…secured Academic All-Patriot League status in 2017 and 2018…named to the 21
st Annual FCS ADA Academic All-Star Team…participated in the ROTC program.
Joe DeStefano, Men's Soccer: Economics major…a four-time Patriot League Academic Honor Roll selection…three-time Dean's List honoree, earning the 2017 Men's Soccer Scholar-Athlete Award…served as a captain in 2018 and won the team's Hall of Fame Award…attended the 2018 Naval Academy Leadership Conference…led the efforts for the St. Baldrick's Fundraiser in 2018-19…member of the Oaks Leadership Academy and SAAC…a four-year starter with 70 starts in 71 career matches…named the Patriot League Defender of the Week on Oct. 15, 2018.
Andrew Mange, Fencing: Government & Law major…won the Everett Glenn Award for top first-year fencer…served as a team captain each of the last two seasons…qualified for the NCAA Mid-Atlantic/South Regional three times.
Brian Ross, Swimming and Diving: Chemical Engineering major…A Marquis Scholar and team captain in 2018-19…completed an honor thesis titled, "Biological Response to the Polyethelene-Glycol Surface Modified Silver Nanoparticles"…published an article for Molecular Cancer Research titled, "ONC201 targets AR and AR-V7 signaling pathways, reduces PSA and synergizes with everolimus in prostate cancer"…recipient of the David L. Harstine and Helen L. Stewart Harstine Scholarship…participated in the Oaks Leadership Academy and was a member of the American institute of Chemical Engineers…co-chair of the Experience Lafayette College Committee…earned Dean's List honors all four yeas and was a seven-time College Swimming Coaches Athletic Association Academic All-American…selected to the Patriot League Academic Honor Rolle three times…won the Lafayette swimming T. Gordon Yates Award for Most Improved…holds and top-10 Lafayette record in the 200 back…was a four-year letterwinner…served as a volunteer coach for Warren ARC, the program's Special Olympian group.
Richard Villa, Baseball: Biology major…a three-year starter at DH and first base and led the team with six home runs and finished second in RBI in his senior season…three-time member of the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll…was a three-time Dean's List honoree and a member of the Beta Beta Beta Biology Honor Society…winner of Lafayette's Otis Ellis '89 Scholar-Athlete Award…named to the 2019 Academic All-Patriot League Team…served as a Peer Mentor since 2017 and a Campus Sherpa since 2015…active in the Oaks Leadership Academy.
Conor Walters, Men's Lacrosse: Economics major…started 15 games in his senior season, tying for the team lead with 31 points on 17 goals and 14 assists with 22 ground balls…led the team in points the last three seasons…named a team captain for his senior season…selected twice to the Academic All-Patriot League Team and three times to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll…finished his career with 69 career goals and 49 career assists for 118 points…completed 22 community service hours in his final year, while also helping to start Second and Seven, a literacy foundation that provides free books to under-priviledged communities and helps promote childhood literacy…has accepted a position with Deutsche Bank in NYC following graduation.
