EASTON, Pa. (www.lafayette.edu) - The Leopard volleyball team, playing its fifth consecutive Patriot League contest, fell to Colgate on Friday 3-1 (14-16, 7-15, 15-8, 2-15), despite the return of starting setter Melissa Ommundsen (Northport, N.Y./Northport).
Ommundsen, sidelined the previous two matches with a concussion, came out to record 32 assists and eight digs for Lafayette (1-17, 0-5 Patriot League). Senior outside hitter Michelle Calvo (Bethlehem, Pa./Bethlehem Catholic) led the Leopard attack, recording 17 kills, while coming up big on defense with 10 digs. Freshman Caroline Eshman (Bethesda, Md./Walter Johnson) also made her presence known, notching six kills, two service aces and nine digs on the night.
Colgate (5-15, 3-2 Patriot League) was led on offense by Amanda Routman who had 11 kills and Amy Rawson who registered 30 assists in the Red Raiders' victory.
The Leopards continue their road trip with a visit to Bucknell on Saturday for their sixth consecutive Patriot League match and third-straight road contest.
