LEWISBURG, Pa. (AP) - Lafayette could not take full advantage of Bucknell's season-high five turnovers as Lucas Phillips passed for a career-high 287 yards and two touchdowns and Jabu Powell ran for 94 yards and a pair of touchdowns to lead the Bison past the Leopards, 42-30.
Lafayette (1-5, 0-2 Patriot League) capitalized on an early turnover - a fumbled snap on Bucknell's first play from scrimmage - when Marko Glavic threw a 10-yard TD pass to Phil Yarberough.
Bucknell (5-1, 1-0) cut the lead to 7-6 when Phillips, who completed 23 of 32 passes, connected with Jim Horan on a 30-yard TD pass. Chris Lundberg's kick failed.
Lafayette took a 14-6 lead after Yarberough caught his second touchdown catch, a 32-yarder.
The Bisons then scored 26 straight points in the second and third quarters, including an 82-yard interception return for a touchdown by Dave Evans.
Chad Ritchie came off the Lafayette bench to replace Glavic and directed two late scoring drives, but it wasn't enough for the Leopards. Glavic threw for 166 yards on 12-of-31 passing, while Ritchie was 9-of-16 for 124 yards.
Yarberough finished the game with 124 yards receiving on nine catches, including three touchdown grabs.
