Columbia Trips Up Lafayette 47 - 22

NEW YORK - Johnathan Reese rushed for a career-high 201 yards and three touchdowns in Columbia's 47-22 victory over Lafayette on Saturday.

Jeff McCall, 12-of-16 for 98 yards, threw three touchdown passes as Columbia (2-2) scored its most points in a game since a 50-0 victory over Brown in the opening game of the 1961 season.

Lafayette (1-4) lost its third straight, and has allowed 193 points.

Reese ran for touchdowns of 1, 2 and 37 yards, scoring in the first, third and fourth quarters as the Lions gained 404 yards in total offense.

Reese gained 100 yards on 25 carries as the Lions built a 19-10 halftime lead after Lafayette closed to 12-10 on Martin Brecht's 23-yard field goal, and Mike Palos' 27-yard blocked punt return.

Reese scored the game's first touchdown on a 1-yard run, and McCall's 1-yard pass to Kirby Mack in the first quarter gave the Lions a 12-0 lead.

McCall's 15-yard pass to Jarel Cockburn made it 19-10 at the half, and Reese's 2-yard run increased the Lions lead to 26-10 with 3:08 elapsed in the third quarter.

Lafayette quarterback Marko Glavic was 26-of-46 for 217 yards, and ran for a touchdown in the fourth quarter.
