Nov. 18, 2000

Recap?|? Box Score

LEHIGH QUOTES: Head Coach Kevin Higgins, Tight End Dustin Grande, Linebacker Bryant Appling, Quarterback Brant Hall, Cornerback Matt Salvaterra.

Higgins on Lafayette: "We have to give a lot of credit to Lafayette. They played extremely hard and I knew they would."

Higgins on Lafayette receivers and senior split end Phil Yarberough: "Lafayette has outstanding receivers. I was a little concerned about Phil coming into the game. I really can't say enough about him."

Grande on scoring a touchdown as a senior co-captain: "It was such a great feeling to help the team and make a big play in the Lafayette/Lehigh game."

Appling on the Lafayette offense in the 1st half: "It was getting frustrating, but they can't throw bombs all day."

Hall on moments of unease in the 1st half: "There really wasn't an overall feeling of unease. We had been down before in the year and we knew we just had to settle down and execute."

Hall on how Lehigh played this year: "I felt like there weren't really any big name players, but more that we were playing as a team."

Salvaterra on the turn of momentum for Lehigh: "We just needed to step up on our defense. Once we did that, things started going our way."

LAFAYETTE QUOTES: Head Coach Frank Tavani, Split End Phil Yarberough, Defensive Tackle Mike Levy, Flanker Andrew May.

Opening statement from Coach Tavani: "There were some missed opportunities and we kept shooting ourselves in the foot. I couldn't be prouder of the team and especially the seniors who held the team together and set a good foundation for the future."

Tavani on the 1st half offensive success: "We tried to run our offense the way we normally do. We knew it would be touch to run agains them but we had to try to do some running combined with our passing."

Tavani on Lehigh: "They were a different kind of Lehigh team, kind of ugly, but very effective. Great teams win games with a good defense and they have been doing that from the beginning."

Tavani on the future of Lafayette Football: "We need to work on recruiting and a lot of off-season work. We have at least eight recruits who will see playing time immediately. If you thought we were young this year, you haven't seen anything yet."

Yarberough on advice to those returning next year: "Work hard in the off season and things will turn around."

Yarberough on his thoughts when Lafayette was ahead: "We were feeling good, but we lost momentum when we ran into the punter."

Levy on play of the defense: "We came in focused and ready to work hard. A lot of stuff was our fault. We had our spurts when we played well. You can always look back on a game and see where you might have changed things around."

May on his touchdown play: "We had been running the hitch early and it was working. I was very fortunate to be in a position to make the play."
