EASTON, Pa. (www.lafayette.edu) - Three Lafayette volleyball players played the last home games of their careers on Saturday in a 3-0 (5-15, 9-15, 10-15) loss to Colgate at the Allan P. Kirby Sports Center. Michelle Calvo (Bethlehem, Pa./Bethlehem Catholic), Melissa Daly (Lewisberry, Pa./Red Land) and Melissa Ommundsen (Northport, N.Y./Northport) were honored for their careers as Leopards in front of a gracious crowd despite the loss.
Calvo and Daly, energized in their final match in Kirby, led the Lafayette attack with 10 kills apiece. Ommundsen, meanwhile, was busy dishing off 20 assists. Lafayette (1-15, 0-11) looked to Calvo and Caroline Eshman (Bethesda, Md./Walter Johnson) on defense as the pair accounted for a combined 13 digs.
Colgate (9-17, 7-3 Patriot League) was led offensively by sophomores Amanda Routman with 13 kills and Amy Rawson with 26 assists. Lisa Breiner recorded eight digs and the Red Raiders' defense notched 14 blocks on the night.
Lafayette wraps up its season on Friday with a match at rival Lehigh at 7 p.m.
