Leopard Fencing Falls Short In Four Opening Matches

BALTIMORE, Md. - The Leopard fencing team lost four matches Sunday at John Hopkins University to William & Mary, North Carolina, Virginia, and Virginia Tech. Leading the way for the Leopards in the sabre competition was Tom Gauntner, who posted a 3-0 record against Virginia. Gauntner won a total of seven bouts in the sabre event for the day.

Also posting wins in the eppe for Lafayette were junior Bri Henderek (Estes Park,CO/Estes Park) and junior Sharon Steele (Manheim, PA/Manheim Central). Senior Gabe Sashkin (Crofton, MD/Crofton) posted the Leopards' lone bout win in the foil competition.

Lafayette had the most trouble in the foil competition, as the Leopards were outscored 35-1.
