EASTON, PA - Lafayette held Gettysburg to just three points in the first 11 minutes of the game, and cruised to a 82-52 win over the Bullets in a non-conference game on Tuesday.
Lafayette held a 13-3 lead with just under 13 minutes to play, and then neither team scored for nearly four minutes. The Bullets' Mike Monroe hit a three that ignited a 9-2 run to bring
Gettysburg within three, but the Leopards responded, and took command of the contest, with a 13-0 run of their own. The run was highlighted by three-pointers by Tim Bieg and Mike Homer.
The second half saw an array of second teamers, as every player for both teams played. Gettysburg's John Schnebly scored a career-high nine points off the bench to lead the Bullets, while
Lafayette's Brian Ehlers scored 13 points, 11 in the second half, to top the hosts. Tim Bieg and Brian Burke also scored in double figures for the Leopards, with 11 each.
The Bullets showed marked improvement in the second half, topping their 16 point first half performance with a 36-point, 42 percent shooting half. Cody Bowers and Ryan Horan provided the
spark in the second half, scoring 5 and 4 points, respectively. Gettysburg drops to 4-4 on the season.
The win served as a primer for Lafayette, who head into New Mexico's Jones Intercable Lobo Invitational beginning Dec. 29 with a two-game win streak. Lafayette faces St. Joseph's in the
first round.
