Lafayette Defeats Howard 64-55

WASHINGTON, DC - Brian Ehlers (Bay Shore, NY/Bay Shore) connected for a game-high 22 points and Stefan Ciosici (Timisoara, Romania/C.D. Loga) added a double-double to lead Lafayette to a 64-55 win over Howard on Wednesday night.

Lafayette took an early lead spurred by three buckets from Ciosici. The Leopards took their biggest lead of the half when Mike Homer (Spokane, WA/Lewis and Clark) hit a three-pointer at 3:17 to give the Leoaprds a 10-point advantage. Ehlers scored the final two of his 12 first-half points on a dunk to send Lafayette into the locker room with a 36-36 lead.

Lafayette shot 55 percent from the field in the first half, going 15-27, including a 5-8 stint from three-point land.

The Leopards were in control for the entire second half, leading by at least 11 the whole 20 minutes. Lafayette notched its biggest lead with 3:22 remaining in the game when Ehlers hit a 15-foot running bank shot to put LC up 64-44.

Lafayette's freshmen played the final three minutes, surrendering 11unanswered points to close the final margin to nine.

Ehlers kept his free throw shooting perfect on the season, going 2-2 to run his season total to 16-16. Ciosici finished with 11 points and a season-high 13 rebounds from the center spot.

Lafayette hosts Towson on Monday, December 6, at 8:00 p.m.
