EASTON, PA - Lafayette College senior outside linebacker John
Fistner (Bethlehem, PA/Bethlehem Catholic) was named Patriot
League Defensive Player of the Week today for his performance in the
Leopards' 35-28 loss at Brown this past Saturday.
Lafayette's leading tackler through three games with 26 total tackles,
Fistner helped the Leopards earn their first lead of the season at the
beginning of the Brown game by intercepting a pass on the first play
of the contest and returning it 37 yards for a touchdown. It was his
second career touchdown and first interception return for a score.
One of Lafayette's three team captains, Fistner also recorded nine
tackles on the day, four of which were solo stops and one for a loss of
one yard.
Fistner, who had just two career interceptions entering the 1999
season, leads Lafayette with two interceptions in three games.
Lafayette, now 0-3 overall and 0-2 in the Patriot League, returns to the
friendly confines of Fisher Field for its home opener this Saturday vs.
Dartmouth at 1:30 p.m.
