BALTIMORE, Md. - Senior Nat LeTowt (Wellesley, MA/Chapel Hill-Chauncy Hall) posted a 14-1 record on the day in the foil to lead Lafayette to victories over Virginia and Virginia Military institute in a five-team meet held at Johns Hopkins University on Saturday. The Leopards lost matches versus North Carolina, Virginia Tech and William and Mary to go along with their two match victories on the day
LeTowt, who posted an impressive 41-1 regular-season bout record in 1998-99, avenged his lone regular-season loss from last season against William & Mary when he won both bouts against the Tribe. LeTowt only bout loss of the day came in the North Carolina match in which he went 2-1.
Sophomore Corey Garner (Branchburg, NJ/Somerville) also put up impressive numbers, going 12-2 for the day with his only losses coming to William and Mary in the sabre event.
Lafayette had the most trouble in the epee, as the Leopards were outscored 28-17. Lafayette held a 26-19 advantage in the foil and a slight 24-21 margin in the sabre.
