Feb. 23, 2000

Box Score

EASTON, PA - Lafayette jumped out to a 40-16 lead at half-time, and cruised to a 92-51 Patriot League win over Colgate tonight, the biggest win of the year. It is the Leopards' 20th win on the season, the second straight year Lafayette has won 20 games.

Tyson Whitfield hit all four of his three-point attempts in the first half, helping the Leopards to their 12th 20-win season in school history. The last time Lafayette had consecutive seasons over 20 wins was in 1976-77 and 1977-78. The Leopards held Colgate to just 25 percent shooting in the opening stanza, en route to the insurmountable lead.

Whitfield finished with 17 points, as did center Stefan Ciosici, playing in his last regular season home game of his career. Tim Bieg went three-of-four from downtown on his way to 13 points. Lafayette shot 58 percent for the game, the Leopards best field goal percentage of the year, as opposed to the Red Raiders 35 percent. Brian Ehlers had just six points, only the third time this season he has been held under 10 points. He dished out a team high five assists, however.

Jordan Harris led Colgate with 12 points and eight rebounds, and Pat Diamond added 10 points. The Red Raiders drop to 11-14 on the year, and 4-8 in the conference.

Lafayette improves to 20-6 and 10-1 in the conference, staying in a first-place tie with Navy, a winner over Lehigh tonight. The Leopards return to action this weekend, as they travel to Bucknell to face the Bison on Saturday, Feb. 27 beginning at 4:00 p.m.
