Lafayette Advances to Patriot League Final

EASTON, PA (AP) -- Brian Ehlers scored six of Lafeyette's last 10 points to lead the Leopards to a 66-60 victory over Lehigh in the semifinal of the Patriot League tournament at Lafayette Sunday.

Lafayette (23-6), the defending champion, will play the winner of the Navy-Colgate semifinal for the title next Friday. It is their ninth straight win over the arch-rival Mountain Hawks, and Lafayette's eighth consecutive win, the longest win streak of the season.

Ehlers, who finished with 11 points, put Lafayette ahead to stay 63-58 when he converted a three-point play with 1:44 remaining in the game. He hit the front end of a 1-and-1 with 18.1 seconds to go and Reggie Guy sealed the win with a pair of free throws with 7.3 seconds left.

Stefan Ciosici led Lafayette with a game-high 18 points and 16 rebounds. Tim Bieg added 14 points and Brian Burke had 10.

Steve Aylsworth had 17 points and Jared Hess 13 to lead Lehigh (8-21).

Lafayette stormed out to an 11-4 lead in the game's first seven minutes but Lehigh responded with a 13-4 run to take a 20-15 lead. The Leopards then scored 14 of the next 18 points over the next five minutes to take a 29-24 halftime lead.
