Lafayette Outgunned By Penn, 20-5

EASTON, PA -- Lafayette was outgunned vs. Ivy League foe Penn, as the Leopards were held scoreless in the first half and finished on the short end of a 20-5 decision on Tuesday.

Penn took the lead early and never relinquished it, rattling off three goals in the first quarter. In the second quarter, Penn's Billy Reidy scored all three of his goals, including what would be the game winner at 11:38 to give Penn the 9-0 halftime advantage.

The Leopards got on the scoreboard in the third quarter as Kevin Angelis (Davidsonville, MD/Arch. Spalding), Ryan Kubie (Westport, CT/Staples) and Morgan Battle (Princeton, NJ/The Hun School) all netted goals. The goal was Battle's fourth of the season. Penn responded however with Scott Solow tallying three of the Quakers' eight third quarter goals.

Penn outscored Lafayette 3-2 in the final quarter to put the final at 20-5. Eight different players registered a point in the game for Lafayette, including five different goal scorers.

Duncan Woodard (New Canaan, CT/St. George's) had six saves through three quarters in goal for Lafayette. John Carroll stopped five shots in goal for Penn in 34 minutes. Lafayette falls to 1-3 and will next host Bucknell on Saturday at 1 p.m. at Metzgar Fields.
