March 23, 2000

FORKS TOWNSHIP, PA - Gina Galati slammed a homerun over the centerfield fence in the bottom of the seventh inning, sealing Lafayette's first win of the season. The win is also the first for head coach John Wong in his career.

The Leopards found themselves in a 0-0 tie entering the bottom of the last inning thanks to senior Erin Hall's gem, going the distance while allowing only four hits and no walks. It is Hall's first shutout of her career, and her first win this season.

Things looked ominous for Lafayette in the top half of the last inning, when consecutive La Salle hitters reached on singles with just one out. The baserunners advanced to second and third with two outs on a fielders' choice by designated player Amanda Hoffman, but Hall induced a grounder up the middle which second baseman Liz Siliato smothered and stepped on second, ending the Explorers' threat.

Just four pitches later, Galati won the game with one swing. It was one of just three hits for the Leopards, with Mara Shainheit and Liz Lucisano getting the others.

Lafayette picked up its first win of the season, to go 1-4, and heach coach John Wong's first career head coaching victory.
