Ben Haaz (Flowertown, PA/Germantown Academy) and Kevin Bromby Ipswich, MA/Governor Dummer)
scored fourth quarter goals to snap a 5-5 tie, and Lafayette held off a late Stony Brook rally to post a 7-6 win at Seawolves
Field on Wednesday.
The win snapped a four-game losing skid for Lafayette, as it improved to 2-4 on the season, while Stony Brook remains
winless at 0-6.
With the scored tied at 3-3 at halftime, the Leopards broke the deadlock on a rare goal by goaltender Duncan Woodard
(New Canaan, CT/St. George's). Woodard scooped up the ball in his own end and raced the length of the field, whipping a shot past Stony Brook's John Dobias to give Lafayette a 4-3 edge at 14:14.
Ted Blackburn (Sea Cliff, NY/North Shore) extended the Leopards' lead to 5-3 at 11:14 before Stony Brook
scored a pair of goals to tie the game at 5-5 entering the fourth quarter. Haaz and Bromby tallied for Lafayette to put Lafayette
up 7-5 with 8:52 remaining. Stony Brook answered five minutes later when Phil Archabald collected his second goal of the game to cut the final margin to one, 7-6.
Woodard made 10 stops in goal for Lafayette while Stony Brook's goalie Dobias stopped 20 shots.
Lafayette (2-4) returns to action on Saturday, when it travels to Colgate for a Patriot League matchup beginning at 2 p.m.
