LEWISBURG, Pa. -
Lafayette's H'Cone Thompson (Washington, D.C./DeMatha) dropped a heartbreaker at #1 singles,
7-6 (7-5), 4-6, 6-4, and the rest of the Leopards followed suit with close losses as the
Leopards dropped their first Patriot League match of the season to Bucknell, 7-0.
Lafayette, suffering just its fourth loss in the fall and spring combined, had #3 through #5
singles matches go the minimum two sets, although all three had a second set tiebreaker.
Perhaps Lafayette's toughest loss was at #5 singles, where Ryan Collins (Whitehouse Station,
N.J./Hunterdon) dropped the first set, 6-3, and then came away with less than he expected,
dropping the second set 7-6 (10-8).
A bright spot for the Leopards was the #3 doubles team of Collins and Colin Feehan
(Hopewell Junction, N.Y./Arlington), who pulled out a hard-fought 9-7 victory.
The Leopards look to regroup this Saturday, April 15 as they host Colgate in a key Patriot
League matchup. Game time is set for 11 a.m., followed by the women's team, also versus
the Red Raiders, at 2 p.m.
