EASTON, Pa. (www.lafayette.edu) - The Leopard volleyball team continued its struggle at the Asics 17th Annual Drexel Invitational Saturday with at three-game loss to Binghamton (6-15, 5-15, 10-15). Lafayette dropped its two matches Friday, pushing host Drexel to four games before faltering and losing in three games to Loyola.
The highlight for Lafayette's offense during the tournament continues to be senior middleblocker Melissa Daly (Lewisberry, Pa./Red Land) who notched nine kills to go along with 14 digs. Teammate and co-captain Michelle Calvo (Bethlehem, Pa./Bethlehem Catholic) recorded 10 kills and eight digs while junior outside hitter Nicole Pepe (Rye, N.Y./Rye) came up big on defense with 11 digs. Cocaptain Melissa Ommundsen added 21 assists.
Binghamton followed the lead of Kishan Zuber who had a match-high .412 attack percentage along with nine digs. Setter Christine Van Schaick had seven assists, seven kills and eight digs for the match.
Lafayette concludes its play at the Drexel Invitational with a 2 p.m. match against La Salle.
