Lafayette Volleyball Team Loses Tough One to Crusaders

EASTON, Pa. (www.lafayette.edu) - The Leopard volleyball team lost a hard fought battle at the Allan P. Kirby Sports Center Saturday to Patriot League competitor Holy Cross, 3-0 (15-12, 15-3, 17-15). Lafayette (1-14, 0-2) stayed close in the first game and were up 15-14 in the third game before the Crusaders (7-7, 1-0) came back to win the game and earn their first league victory of the season.

Senior outside hitter Michelle Calvo (Bethlehem, Pa./Bethlehem Catholic) led the Leopards' spirited attack, registering 12 kills and falling back on defense to add nine digs. Classmate and setter Melissa Ommundsen (Northport, N.Y./Northport) dished 19 assists on offense and added nine digs on defense. Freshman Maria Kinzel (Caldwell, N.J./Caldwell) came in off the bench to provide a defensive lift, contributing a team-high 12 digs.
