EASTON, Pa. (www.lafayette.edu) - The Lafayette volleyball team dropped a Patriot League match to cross-valley rival Lehigh tonight in Kirby Sports Center. Lehigh improved to 8-7 overall and 5-2 in league play as they topped the Leopards 30-23, 30-15 and 30-19.
The Mountain Hawks were led by Jeannette Singleton who notched a match-high nine kills while picking up nine digs for the match. Dana van den Eikhof served up five service aces to pace Lehigh for the match.
Lafayette was led by Erin Brune (Pasadena, Calif./Mayfield) who knocked down seven kills while Caroline Eshman (Bethesda, Md./Walter Johnson) recorded six for the night.
Freshman setter Heidi Olichwier (Arlington Heights, Ill./Buffalo Grove) dished out 22 assists on the night to put her at a season total of 299.
Kate Walkenhorst (Tulsa, Okla./Cascia Hall) led the Leopards defensively, picking up a match-high 11 digs while Eshman registered eight.
Lehigh travels to Seton Hall in non-conference action on Saturday at 7 p.m.
Lafayette (0-19, 0-7) hosts Central Connecticut on Sunday at 12 p.m.
