EASTON, Pa. (www.lafayette.edu) - Despite putting up a valiant effort in the first game, the Leopard volleyball team fell to Bucknell 3-0 tonight in Kirby Sports Center. The Bison improved to 6-3 in league action by winning 33-31, 30-21 and 30-15.

Freshman Kate Walkenhorst (Tulsa, Okla./Cascia Hall) paced the Leopards with 14 kills and seven digs. Middle hitter Erin Brune (Pasadena, Calif./Mayfield) was close behind with 9 kills.

Defensively, junior co-captain Sarah Deitsch (Forwood, N.J./Old Tappan) picked up seven digs while Brune and sophomore Caroline Eshman (Bethesda, Md./Walter Johnson) each recorded six.

Freshman setter Heidi Olichwier (Arlington Heights, Ill./Buffalo Grove) dished out 23 assists for Lafayette.

Bucknell's Shannon Walker dominated the net with 19 kills and four block assists. Setter Whitney Williams passed for 16 assists on the night while Carolyn Dougherty picked up a match-high 10 digs for the match.

The Bison improved to 10-7 overall and 6-3 in the Patriot League ane will host Navy on Oct. 26 at 7 p.m.

Lafayette hosts Wagner in non-conference action on Wednesday at 7:30.
