Lafayette Fencing Competes in MACFA Championships

BLACKSBURG, Va. (www.lafayette.edu) - The Lafayette Fencing team competed in the Middle Atlantic Collegiate Fencing Association Championships at Virginia Tech on March 4 where they vied against a field of 13 schools.

The Leopards finished in 12th place overall, ahead of Hunter College and New Jersey Tech. In the sabre competition, Lafayette fell just shy of host Virginia Tech to place 12th by earning 12 individual victories. The Leopards also finished 12th in the epee, notching four individual victories to place in front of both Hunter and New Jersey Tech.

In the foil competition, Lafayette walked away with eight individual victories for 13th place beating out Hunter College by five nods.

Other teams competing in the championships included Johns Hopkins, Army, Drew, Stevens Tech, Virginia Tech, Cornell, William & Mary, Virginia, Haverford, Yeshiva, St. John's, New Jersey Tech, and Hunter College.
