EASTON, Pa. (www.lafayette.edu) - Lafayette senior Frank Barr (Darby, Pa./Penn Wood) was taken 50th overall on Tuesday in the United States Basketball League's 16th Annual Draft.

The 7-0 center was selected by the Atlantic City Seagulls of the 10-team league. Barr averaged 14.5 points and 6.8 rebounds per game for the Leopards as a senior on his way to earning All-Patriot League Second Team honors. Barr also managed to swat away 58 shots to lead the team in 2000-01. He finished his career fifth all-time in the Patriot League in blocks with 160, despite having played his freshman season at Hofstra.

Barr was part of two Patriot League championships and helped lead the Leopards to NCAA Tournament appearances in 1998-99 and 1999-2000. In his three seasons, the Leopards held a combined record of 58-31, including two 20-win seasons (22-8, 24-7).

"Being drafted is a good step for me," Barr said. "I just hope that I can go there and play well. I'm pretty excited--wholly excited about playing basketball."

Barr is the third player in the last two seasons to be drafted by a USBL sqaud. Brian Ehlers '00 and Stefan Ciosici '00 were drafted in the 2000 draft. Ehlers was drafted by and briefly played for the Long Island Surf before accepting an offer to play in Newcastle, England. Ciosici was drafted by the Pennsylvania Valley Dawgs and is currently playing in Rimini, Italy.
