HAMILTON, N.Y. (www.lafayette.edu) - The Lafayette Volleyball team dropped its second Patriot League match in so many days as they fell to Colgate 30-24, 30-17, 30-18.
Freshman outside hitter Hannah Briggs (Easton, Pa./Easton) led the Leopards with six kills and three block assists. Sophomore Caroline Eshman (Bethesda, Md./Walter Johnson) was also strong offensively, notching five kills and three service aces for the match.
Freshman setter Heidi Olichwier (Arlington Heights, Ill./Buffalo Grove) led the team with 16 assists to bring her season total to 120.
Middle hitter Erin Brune (Pasadena, Calif./Mayfield) led the Leopards defensively with eight digs and three block assists.
Colgate was led by Elizabeth Aron with 13 kills while teammate Amy Rawson registered 34 assists for the match.
The Raiders improved to 4-8 overall and 1-1 in the Patriot League and will return to action this weekend when they host the Raider Classic in Hamilton, N.Y.
Lafayette falls to 0-10 overall and 0-2 in league play and will return to Easton, Pa. for its first home match of the season on Sept. 23 versus Robert Morris at 12:00.
