BOSTON, Mass. (www.lafayette.edu) - The Lafayette volleyball team opened play in the Harvard University New England Challenge Tournament on Friday, but ran into a tough Boston College squad. Boston College took all three games of the match, winning 30-5, 30-12, 30-11.
BC took a quick 7-0 lead in the first game and cruised to the 30-5 win thanks in large part to the passing ability of Eagles' freshman Jessica Brizzolara who led Boston College (3-2) with 27 assists.
Lafayette jumped out to an early lead in the second game before Boston College's serving took over with eight straight service points from Lauren Schwer en route to the 30-12 win. Boston College took the third game 30-11.
Freshmen Kate Walkenhorst and Heidi Olichwier led the Leopards with four kills apiece. Olichwier also managed a team-high seven digs.
