TOWSON, Md. (AP) - Noah Read scored a six-yard touchdown in overtime to give Towson a 16-13 win over Lafayette on Saturday.
The Tigers (1-1, 1-0 P.L.) took the win despite trailing the Leopards 13-10 after Lafayette's possession in the overtime session.
Read rushed for a career-high 218 yards on 38 carries.
Lafayette (0-1, 0-1) scored 16 seconds into the game with a 93-yard kickoff return by Andrew May to take a 7-0 lead.
The Leopards' defense held the Tigers scoreless until the fourth quarter.
Read pulled Towson to within 10-7, scoring on an 11-yard run with 13:49 left to play in regulation. His TD run capped a 68-yard, eight-play drive. The Tigers tied the score at 10-10 when Ed Kulic kicked a 22-yard field goal with 8:01 remaining.
In the first overtime, Lafayette took a 13-10 lead when Martin Brecht made a 28-yard field goal. Led by Read, the Tigers pulled out the victory as they drove 25 yards in four plays for the winning TD. Read carried on all four overtime plays.
Lafayette's Marko Glavic completed 18 of 35 passes for 244 yards with no interceptions while May caught six passes for 100 yards in addition to returning two kickoffs for 101 yards, including his 93-yarder to open the game.
