Leopards Spike Wagner 3-0 In Volleyball

Staten Island, N.Y. (www.lafayette.edu) - Erin Brune's (Pasadena, Calif./Mayfield) double-double effort of 11 kills and 13 digs led a pack of Leopards on the offensive in Lafayette's 3-0 (30-22, 20-28, 20-22) win over host Wagner on Wednesday.

Seven different Leopards tallied kills, and the team's balanced attack produced a season-high .323 hitting percentage in what was Lafayette's first sweep since Sept. 8, 2000.

Lafayette (2-19, 0-7) managed to rally early in games one and two, before pulling away for the decisive game three victory.

Kate Walkenhorst (Tulsa, Okla./Cascia Hall Prep) managed nine kills to go along with three services aces, and Heidi Olichwier (Arlington Heights, Ill./Buffalo Grove) dished a game-high 38 assists while adding five kills of her own.

Leading the way for the Seahawks (0-26, 0-3) were Jennie Porter with 14 kills and Michelle Wilk with 11 kills of her own.

Lafayette's win marks its second of the season, equalling the win total for the last three years combined.

The Leopards travel to Patriot League foe Bucknell on Friday for a 7 p.m. contest.
