Lafayette Golf Rests in Seventh Place at ECAC Championships

APALACHIN, N.Y. (www.lafayette.edu) - The Lafayette men's golf team rests in a tie for seventh place after the first round of competition at the ECAC Men's Open Championship on Saturday at the Links at Hiawatha Landing in Apalachin, N.Y.

The Leopards have two golfers in the top 10 with Michael Aarts and Bradley Rock, holding steady in seventh and ninth places. Aarts shot a 40 on the front nine on Saturday, but managed a tournament-best 34 on the back nine to card a two-over par 74 in the first round. Rock is just a stroke behind with a 75.

Jeremiah O'Neill is tied for 36th place with a 79 followed by Joshua Shepard in 65th (82) and Brad Godette in 78th (87).

Binghamton leads the field with a team score of 292, 18 strokes ahead of Lafayette (310) in seventh. Harvard's Steven Mungovan is the first round leader with a three-under-par 69.

Lafayette completes the tournament on Sunday.
