The Lafayette fencing team defeated New Jersey Institute of Technology (19-8) in a match that was held at Drew University on Feb 9. The Leopards split the competitions on the day, losing to host Drew (22-5).

Lafayette took the epee 5-4. Bri Henderek (Estes Park, Colo./Estes Park) and Katy Folwell (Gilbertsville, Pa./Boyerstown), each recorded two wins to lead the Leopards. The Leopards captured the foil as well, 7-2 led by Matt Johnston's (Nantucket, Mass./Nantucket) three wins. Lafayette also dominated in the sabre event. Corey Garner (Branchburg, N.J./Somerville) and Tom Gauntner (Allentown, Pa./Central Catholic) each posted three wins in the 7-2 win.

Drew handed Lafayette a 22-5 loss. The Leopards performed well in the sabre event, recording a 5-4 win over Drew. Drew claimed the epee (9-0) and foil (8-1)

The fencing team will return to action on March 3 at the MACFA Championships.
