PHILADELPHIA, Pa. (www.lafayette.edu) - The Lafayette fencing team competed in the NCAA Regional Fencing Meet at Temple on March 9.

In the men's foil Matt Johnston (Nantucket, Mass./Nantucket) placed 21st overall. Nantapa Panchen of Penn State won the event.

Lafayette managed to place twice in sabre competition. Thomas Gauntner (Allentown, Pa./Central Catholic) came in 23rd overall, while Corey Garner (Branchburg, N.J./Somerville) finished 25th. A Penn State fencer, Alex Weber, won the sabre.

Other teams that competed in the meet included Drew, Duke, Rutgers, North Carolina, Johns Hopkins, Haverford, Princeton, Stevens Tech, and Pennsylvania.
