EASTON, Pa. (www.lafayette.edu) - The 2002 Lafayette Maroon-White spring football game will be played Friday, April 26 at Fisher Field. The scrimmage will begin at 6 p.m., preceded by pass skeleton drills at 5:45 p.m. There will be no admission fee charged for this first-hand look at the 2002 Leopards under third-year head coach Frank Tavani.
Alumni, parents and friends of Lafayette football are also invited to the 2002 Maroon Club / Friends of Lafayette Football golf outing on Saturday, April 27 at Southmoore Golf Club in Bath, Pa. The scramble format event begins with a continental breakfast at 10 a.m., features an 11 a.m. tee-off, and concludes with a 4 p.m. barbecue at the club. Lafayette returns 40 letterwinners, including eight starters on offense. A trio of All-Patriot League performers returns in center Chris Royle '03 (Stockton, N.J./Hunterdon Central), offensive tackle Kevin Moss '04 (New York, N.Y./Simsbury), and tailback/kick returner Joe McCourt '05 (Philadelphia, Pa./Roman Catholic). Royle earned first-team all-league honors, while Moss was awarded a spot on the second team and McCourt was named the conference's Rookie of the Year. Plus, quarterback Marko Glavic '04 (Pickering, Ontario/St. Mary Catholic) returns as Lafayette's fifth all-time leading passer with 4,424 yards.
Lafayette concluded its 120th season of college football and second under Tavani this past fall. The Leopards held a lead in each Patriot League game this season, losing four contests by 10 points or less.
