EASTON, Pa. (www.lafayette.edu) - Freshman Jeremiah O'Neill fired a two-under 34 on the back nine of Northampton Country Club to tie for medalist honors and lead host Lafayette to a second-place finish at the 2002 Lehigh Valley Collegiate Golf Invitational.
O'Neill birdied holes 11 and 18 to finish 40-34 for a two-over 74 and tie with Lehigh's Ron Kashlak for first place on the par-72, 6,542-yard championship course.
Lehigh captured top honors in the team competition with a five-man score of 381, while Lafayette was second at 400, Moravian was third with a 425 and Muhlenberg was fourth at 426.
Lafayette had three other top-ten finishes as freshman Sean McMonagle carded a 37-41--78 to take sixth place, classmate Tom Hennessey shot a 37-44--81 to grab eighth place, and sophomore Brad Rock fired a 41-42--83 to tie for 10th place. Other Leopard rounds included freshm3n Bill Broomall with a 42-42--84 to tie for 13th place and Josh Shepard with a 45-41--86 to tie for 18th.
The Leopards conclude the 2001-02 schedule Thursday, April 25 at Monmouth.
