EASTON, Pa. (www.lafayette.edu) - The Lafayette football team held its first day of two-a-day practices in full gear and its fourth straight day of full-squad, two-a-day workouts. Despite a few minor injuries to key personnel, third-year head coach Frank Tavani is pleased with the team's progress and likes how the depth chart is coming together.

"We're getting a lot of people some work," Tavani said. "We've got seven hard straight practices now in full equipment that will basically set the tone for the season."

The Leopards practiced at Metzgar Fields in 90-degree heat in the fourth of a seven-day stretch of full-squad, two-a-day sessions. Team and positional meetings this evening will wrap up day seven of camp.

The squad will be back on the field Monday with practices scheduled for 8:30-10:30 a.m. and 4-6 p.m.

Preseason camp continues until Aug. 26 when classes begin. The Leopards open the 2002 season Sept. 7 when they host Monmouth at 1 p.m. at Fisher Field.
