EASTON, Pa. (www.lafayette.edu) - The Lafayette football team continued its second week of preseason camp today at the Metzgar Athletic Campus. Now in the third day of full-equipment workouts, the Leopards continued contact drills that featured live hits and focused heavily on red zone situations.
"We scrimmaged a little longer this morning and we're pleased with the progress," said third-year head coach Frank Tavani. "The offense in particular did real well with the red zone scrimmaging."
The Leopards worked out in 90-degree heat at Metzgar Field in the sixth of a seven-day stretch of two-a-day sessions.
Preseason camp concludes Sunday, Aug. 25 with an intrasquad scrimmage at Fisher Field at 9 a.m. The Leopards open the 2002 season Sept. 7 when they host Monmouth at 1 p.m. at Fisher Field.
INJURY REPORT:
Tauren Barker (Fr., DL) - out 1-2 weeks with a bruised elbow.
David Bruestle (Jr., DB) - out indefinitely with a hamstring injury.
Eric Fizur (Fr., OL) - out 5-6 days with a concussion.
Anthony Jones (So., TE) - out indefinitely while recovering from off-season shoulder surgery.
Michael McAfee (Jr., OL) - out 2-3 weeks with a dislocated shoulder.
Blake McCoy (Fr., OL) - out indefinitely with a neck injury.
Gus Ottoson (Fr., DL) - will have season-ending shoulder surgery after suffering injury in summer high school all-star game.
Justin Pettigrew (Jr., DB) - out indefinitely with turf toe.
Nick Snyder (Fr., DL) - out indefinitely with a sprained knee.
Bill Stocker (Sr., DB) - out 2-3 days with a strained hamstring.
Paul Ziska (So., DL) - out indefinitely with a separated shoulder.
