Lafayette Drops Season Opener to Albany

Albany, N.Y. (www.lafayette.edu) - The Lafayette volleyball team dropped it's opening match of the season 3-0 in the first round of the Great Dane Invitational against the University at Albany. The host school defeated the Leopards by scores of 30-15, 30-14 and 30-23, spoiling head coach Terri Dadio Campbell's debut.

Sophomore Heidi Olichwier (Arlington Heights, Ill./Buffalo Grove) led the team with 15 assists, and Junior Caroline Eshman (Bethesda, Md./Walter Johnson) notched eight kills as the Leopards rallied in the third game of the match, before falling short.

Sophomore Kate Walkenhorst (Tulsa, Okl./Cascia Hall Prep) added four kills, and posted a .571 hitting percentage for Lafayette.

The Leopards meet Marist in the tournament's second round on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
